Pipe repair and replacement in Onda
A pipe that leaks, an old iron run that lowers the pressure or a drain that needs redoing: I repair or replace the section with the right material.

The right section, with the right material
I repair and replace hot and cold water pipes and waste pipes in homes: the run under a kitchen sink, the feed up to a water heater, the connection for a washing machine or dishwasher, a stopcock that no longer closes or a shower drain that has to be redone. In many cases the whole system does not need replacing: the damaged section is changed and connected properly to the rest.
In Onda and the surrounding villages there are still many homes with galvanised iron or lead pipes. Over the years they clog from the inside, lower the pressure and eventually perforate. When I come across that, I propose replacing the section with multilayer or PEX pipe, materials that do not corrode and allow work with less disruption.
Diagnosis before chasing out
Before opening a wall or a floor, I locate the affected section by following the installation, checking pressures and observing where the damp appears. Only when I am sure of the exact spot do I propose the work, with the quote and the scope in writing.
After the replacement, I put the system under pressure, check every joint and leave the section accessible wherever possible, so that a future check does not mean breaking anything. If tiling or plaster has to be made good, I clearly flag it as separate work.

Questions about pipes
Less and less water comes out at home, could it be the pipes?
Very likely, especially if the installation is galvanised iron: it narrows inside with rust and limescale. I check by measuring the pressure at several points and, if confirmed, propose replacing the worst-affected sections.
Does a lot have to be broken to replace an embedded pipe?
I always aim for the opposite: find the exact point and open the minimum. Sometimes a new route can be run through the false ceiling or behind a unit instead of chasing out the wall. I explain the options before starting.
What material do you use for new pipes?
Multilayer or PEX for water and PVC for waste, with quality fittings. They are materials that do not corrode, cope well with limescale and allow a cleaner job than copper or iron.
